I joined and started playing Counter Strike around 2000 or 2001. It was a server I could let my son play on without worrying about cursing and pornographic sprays. And yes, there was usually a wait to get in. Back then I would constantly click on the Lair's link until I could get in. The first time I joined the server I was just playing random servers looking for a good game. After I joined Cain's Lair, I never played another server.

glad you are all alive and kicking. we have also survived all this COVID so far, except for CLR Bandit - our 10 year old - who caught it on Christmas Eve. Buzz Kill !!

When i can pry the PS5 controller from his hand when he is playing FIFA22, I have been playing Call of Duty Vanguard just to keep the reflexes sharp. I do still play Battlefield V on the PS as well when i want a relaxing sniper match.

Minerva has continued to keep her Nazi Zombie skills sharp and must be one of the top ranked players in COD for Zombie mode.

Hi all!
Just checking in. I'm impatiently waiting to game with my two grandkids, but the oldest is only 7. So, I need to live longer. It's good for parents to postpone that lifelong gaming itch.
There are a ton of games out there! I'm enjoying playing solo in discounted and free-to-play PC games. Discovered that I have no chance at all in console-style, button-mashing games. I sure it's not an age related issue.

I gotten several weekly free games off the Epic store though most are not FPS games. I also have zero chance in the console, frantic button mashing games. Tough enough with mouse mashing games and I'm having to segue to more "intellectual" games.

Mine is age related. Cortisone shots in both thumbs just the other day because of thumb joint pain. Eventually surgery in most likely.

I feel for you slaughter. I have arthritis in my left thumb and bone spurs on both hips. Getting old sucks. Of course, the other option sucks more.

I played the original Unreal Tournament here when it came out in 1999-2000?....whenever it was. Great people, great time. I was just looking at some old bookmarks in my browser and there it was....Cain's Lair....hard to believe I can still post here. I've never been able to reproduce that feeling of immersion that I felt and the hilarity of doing stupid stuff.

For anyone that remembers me I was that loud Australian Admin on BFBC2 back in 2009+ I really miss those days!
Hey to update you these days I still play games, recently RDR2, Vanguard and Star wars Battlefront.... I'm a definitive Battle Field fan generally but I've avoided 2042 until such time as it becomes more user friendly. I also struggle to play on USA servers due to high graphics and ping... which is why I don't see any of you anymore.

Anyway Cain follows my life but to update the rest of you since those days I've brought # little ones into the universe we Co Exist in!! Just built a new rig and managed to get hold of a 3080TI !!!!!!

Is anyone still around that remembers me?? haha ?? Cobalt?

Hey guys I'm planning on building my first gaming PC in about 10 years and so I immediately thought of the Lair and all the great times playing UT2k4 with you all back in the day!

Many many changes in my life with 2 young kids and getting to move back to my hometown in this era of work-from-home, but they're finally old enough that dad can get an hour or two to himself every night to get caught up on the mountain of games he's been wanting to play for the past 5-6 years.

Anyway Cain thanks again for making the best damn home for gaming in the history of the internet, and I hope you and your family are doing great, hell I hope you're VERY retired by now!

All the best to the {CLR} crew and if the shock rifle ever makes a return rest assured I'll be here to miss 80% of my combos!

Was just curious if the Lair was a thing or not still and googled it. Great to see its still alive! My old PC petered out gaming wise long ago and I went full xbox where all my real life friends played. With CoD going crossplay and most games now I finally built a new dedicated gaming PC. Havent bought BF6 yet but have been toying with it. Most my friends are still on CoD WZ but a couple at work I dont play as much with play BF now. I did download RedSec. If I do I'll 100% try to hop on CL!
Mostly just saying "Hi" if anyone remembers me. I see Apache up top and still remember him kicking my butt on DoD back when I was just a young pup in college lol.

I sent Sirex a message about me uploading a server (of course if no one else has tried it first), if we would run into the same issues or not. Im willing to give it a go and see where it goes....what could possibly go wrong right....right? lol
