In movie theaters this weekend, go see it if you get a chance. Stokes County FreedomWorks is having a big rally at a theater in Winston Salem at noon on Friday, seeing the 12:45 show. I won't be able to make it, I keep complaining to leadership that they need to do stuff when working folks can attend (most members are retired).

I read the book 20+ years ago when I was pretty much politically apathetic. It was very entertaining then but I didn't see the political aspects of it.

Scud doesn't seem to get the point that, as I said, eliminating the all of defense from the budget doesn't solve the deficit increase problem. To rephrase the Clinton campaign slogan, "it's the spending, stupid." At least I tried. Sigh.

Skud is a public sector union bus driver in Madison so the latest drama up there has him evaluating the budget situation. I think he thinks that there is enough money to cover the spending programs out there.

Just read an article that defense spending doubled since 9/11. Which is true, but it would not have if Obama didn't kick it up a few notches. Here's the lo-down: Bush, in his last budget proposal - GFY2009, projected defense spending to be $564B in the year 2012 (which is not double). OTOH, Obama's first budget, GFY2010, allocated $634B for 2012. Now we get to the GFY2012 budget and what happens? $738B!

WTF? Why did Obama increase defense $174B over Bush's estimate? Makes no sense to me.

So... who is it gonna be? Herman Cain is the only one that has impressed me so far. I donated $12 to his campaign after last Thursday's debate on Fox News. I think that is only the third time in my life I've made a political contribution.

I'm on board the Cain Train now. If you don't support Herman Cain you are a racists, flat out. Can't wait to play that card if he gets the nomination.
