    I love Pyro, but I may hold off to avoid the initial and inevitable rush of pyros trying to get the achievements. The new compressed air idea is awesome, though, and will definitely help when fighting against soldiers or uber'd opponents.

      You know, I'll admit, I had never played Pyro until 2 or 3 days ago, but these weapons/achievements/changes sound awesome. Did not expect the compression blast change, though it certainly sounds very useful!

      I'll have to wait for the initial Pyro achievement craze to die down before trying for some of these. I'm still learning the basics of Pyro (ambushing, when to pull back, etc.) but, in the mean time.....Will uber any friendly Pyros. An uber'd Pyro was a force to be reckoned with before but now, he can deflect rockets?! This'll let me keep ubers until Pyros are close, rather than deploying ubers to save my/his(her?) life.

        I am immensely psyched ... anyone notice that yet ?? Tails, you gotta be kidding me !!??? Ya GOTTA burn some stress off by burning other humans .. its very satisfying !!

        Here's a scenario for how a Pyro can now influence this game:
        I'm Pyro in the enemy basement on 2Fort, and I come up from the basement and air deflect the sentry rockets/bullets from the inevitable spot at the far end, letting a Soldier behind me finish it off, or use a Flare Gun to start it burning, just out of its range to get back at me.

        Howza bout an air jump from the top of the bridge onto the 2Fort Sniper ramparts, such as like the Scout can do ? Not sure the Pyro can semi-air jump to those spots, but it opens up a wealth of options.

        So maybe that Engi wants to unsap some sentries that your Spy just planted ... air gun him away from the sentry until it blows up !! The possibilities are interesting on this !!

          This is gonna get irritating... the pyro is a nuisance as it is, but making them this versatile and dare i say it, lethal, is gonna end pissing me off if what I'm imagining is correct.

          A pyro that cant be hit by rockets, stickies, or pipe bombs. Able to light a whole group of enemies from long range. With an axe that crits a whole group after he just runs through spray-and-praying with the flame and then coming right back through knocking everyone out without a hope of being stopped in time. Nullifying ubers during deployment.
          Or, no air blasts, but more health and the ability to exploit the face-stab aspect of the spy to make crit fire....

          this is gonna be nuts

            Don't forget that other achievements are due. If you think that Valve hasn't determined that there might be an imbalance, you are wrong. Nobody has tried it yet to see how it will work, so save your gripes for Thursday until we know how it will pan out.
            As far as I am concerned, the Pyro was never balanced properly, and Valve did numerous tweaking to the Pyro damage when the game came out last October. I never stand a chance against a Heavy or Soldier, so don't you think that was an imbalance ? This simply gives the Pyro a few toys to employs. A good Pro who spychecks everyone is a team player that you WANT on your team at all times.

                I sorta figured that ... it won't do anything to the sentry, so scratch my idea on that end. But fragging a Soldier with his own rocket makes it a fun option.
                Its quite clear that Valve has paid attention to the Valve stats and is evening the playing field. Goldrush was tweaked (they removed the 1st floor doorway by the second CP on the first level) to give the attacking team some breathing room to maneuver safely) among the many tweaks and changes.

                  More news about the Pyro...

                  According to this article, the Pyro will only have to earn 15, 20, and 25 achievements in order to unlock his new weapons, meaning he can ditch about 10 of the other achievements and still unlocking everything. While I'm fond of this decision, it seems a bit unfair to the medic who had to earn all of them.

                  I'm relived that we won't have to get every single one, since killing an enemy with a taunt was going to be... hard, to say the least. Killing a spy taunting with the cigarette was also gonna be kinda random luck, so at least you can scrap those kind. I wish they would have decided to do this with the Medic, too, since the Pyros seem easier to get than the Medics.

                  I hope the initial Pyro rush doesn't last too long. I'd love to start getting these achievements as soon as possible, but I'd rather be an asset to the team first. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.

                      40+ hours as Pyro so far, with Soldier next at a shade over 20 hours. I use Soldier class to get revenge on a nemesis (always a Soldier .. I hate them) so that's my reasoning behind that.
                      I'm gonna burn the first Soldier I see tonight to a crisp, then taunt over him to snag an Achievement !!

                        Well I'm happy to say I got 23 achievements and now have an Axetinguisher!!

                          I guess I can't really say anything. I had to farm to get a few of the impossible ones (kill w/ taunt, ignite spy that is lighting a cig, etc.) but I haven't farmed the ones that come with time (like 50 kills from the back).

                            Yea, I saw BK on an achievements server yesterday .. what a scumbag !! LoL

                            What really made me sad was seeing my team of 16 players at the start of the level consisting of 12 Pyros and a few assorted others. And guess who went either Engy or Soldier to play base D while the rest ran off to flame ?? ME !!!! I'm used to a 1-0 2Fort marathon map, but there was no Engy D at ALL, and it was a 24 minute 3-2 game.

                            So while everyone else ran around with axes, I looked for metal and beat on my sentry. Point is, my team won when it needed to, and I'll take a win any day over personal records, so call me strange but I am and always will be a team player.

                              Lol yea other than the achievement server i havent played pyro, ive been playing mostly soldier because they seem most effective against noob pyros... if you hit them right they will go up in the air and they cant move around so you just throw another rocket and then they're dead. I also forgot how much fun rocket jumping was.

                              My favorite part about the pyro now is the compressed air lol. I mean you can really get out of any situation other than a sentry in your face. I love it

                              And yes, im a scumbag, i admit it, haha

                                I'm gonna wait until the Pyro excitement calms down before I start trying to get them. I played quite a bit today and only went Pyro once because the numbers dropped to about 2. Every other time I checked, we had like 7+ Pyros at all times... I doubt the last thing we needed was another Pyro.

                                I love Pyro, he is by far my best offensive class, but I can't justify picking him when we've already got 7 others. Oh well, hopefully it'll die down soon and I can pick him up again.
