That Samsung looks pretty good especially with the long battery life.

I know nothing about these, so perhaps this may sound like a dumb question - since just about everything is smaller, is any noticeable performance lost compared to a normal laptop around the same price range?

They are not as powerful as a Laptop, not good for gaming. They are made for long battery life, basic apps like Ms Office, Internet, and portability.

These things are selling GREAT and will sell alot more in 2009.

Netbooks are definately the future and are currently the fastest growing computer segment. They are best for road warriors and folks with a good desktop and not looking for a desktop replacement.

Almost all use the same processors and the main difference is power management and operating system with the choice being linux or windows....so apps choices are open source and free or minimum windows apps. WiFi connectivity is exceptional from what i have seen.

They are great for email and internet and basic functionality (word and excel).

Asus was the leader here with the EEE and it looks like Dell has done a decent job with the Mini.

Yep, these things are definitely very hot sellers and will get much more popular in 2009.

Currently the best one available is this one:

I have one. It's new so I can't say much until I try it, I didn't pay for it, so that's the coolest part
