Power armor? Bah! Real men fight in the pimp suit from that slaver dude!

Who am I kidding? I'm in Enclave armor. But I do have the pimp suit and hat.

You guys are killing me with this thread. My Mother in Law still has the game (she bought it on her end of town when Target was out of stock on our end) and I haven't been able to get to her place to pick it up yet.
The longer she keeps it, the more I fear it may become an Xmas gift, and that cannot happen !!! My only saving grace is that L4D is a blast, but I desperately want to play some Fallout, or at least get the damn game installed !!

I'll probably get the strategy guide too, as I like digging through them to find the secret caches of stuff ingame.

WT, go get it. Now. You need to play this game.

I've got the guide, and yeah, it's helpful to find all the minor hidden stuff. It's particularly good on helping find skill books in some of the random things on the map that don't show up as destinations. Once I find all the big places in an area, I can check the guide to figure out which burned out shack, jack-knifed truck, or abandoned gas station has a book and is worth tracking down.

Oh, just remembered another great benefit of the Guide: there are a couple of cool scripted events in different places that only happen at certain times of the day, and the guide can help identify them. I missed one I wanted to see, but got a tour of the Museum of Dave.

                  I hate guides.

I've been playing the game without using the F5 F9 over and over. I did at first to understand lockpicking, but once I got the hang of it, no reason to redo if I screw up.

Same for shooting people accidently. If I do, I do and I play on. Thats the fun of games like this that are so open ended, you can do whatever and still have fun.

And I'm 100% like Rand in that I'm not really aiming for the main story line. I'm just exploring and doing stuff on my own. Hell, I found a bunch of things even before going to Megaton at first.

I'm kinda like "Oh, shiny object!! Must go get it!"
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

I have put off buying the guide this time. I bought it for Oblivion and I may have lost a bit of the experience. I do think that after I Finsih it the first time I will pick it up to find a lot of the parts I missed.

I think the guide will be pretty much useless once those user patches/mods come out. So much empty space in the wastelands...I can't wait to see what some people come up with.

Geez dude, that guide was more like a Chinese phone book !!

                          IT WAS HUGE !!!!

Anyhoo, I loved having the ability to read ahead and determine which way I wanted to play the game.

Little known fact on WT: If I can cheat or mod a game to make it easy for me, or give me unlimited ammo or instant build times in an RPG, I am ALL OVER THAT !! I admit it ... I hate to lose, and I enjoy the ability to cheat my way thru a game rather than play it straight up.
Gaming for me is my relaxation .. I don't need to be frustrated playing a game after I get out of work, so that is my reasoning behind it.

I would love to see official expansions for this game, with higher level caps. I think that's what it's going to take to really expand on the experience. It would also be nice to have some user content, but the downside with the ease of levelling is that you can only go so far on that. They should have made it take longer to gain levels.

I started out thinking it WOULD take some time, so I blew a perk on the 10% extra exp thing. Turns out, yeah, you don't really need that one.

This was the benefit of buying a few things at the same time I got Oblivion, and ending up hooked on one of them (Maybe BF 2/2142? Don't remember). I didn't go through it all at once like this game, so there was a ton of user content available to enhance the experience. It also helped that I waited a number of months to buy Oblivion after release.

Oh, and it would be really nice if Fallout 4 is secretly in the works for next year.

Yea... probably already about 1/2 done or not in development at all.

Actually their next game in progress in the Fallout MMO. If it's true that the game is being made at all that is. I just hope they keep the concept for aiming at specific body parts, like in the Conan MMO.

Either way, I can't wait for the next game...lol I haven't even finished this one. I think I'll just beat it tonight and play again as evil. Then play again as Nuetral. I bet I could do it in one night. Especially after knowing where everything is and how to complete the quests.
