    New to fallout - Fallout 3 GOTY or Fallout New Vegas

    I've never played the Fallout series so looking for opinions for those that have.

    Id play Fallout 3 all over again just so i can experience all the content i missed......which is what im doing, so much content packed in one game. Also id play FO3 first so you can get a feel for the series

      First one ... follow the story chronologically. I've seen previews of the new one and thought about getting it.


      I actually was at the verrrry end of GOTY and used a quick cheat code to run around in the base w/ unlimited ammo and nuked everyone. I then didn't save the game, assuming I could pick up where I left off before the cheat. Somehow the (non) save got corrupted and I never played the game again after losing recent saves. Also, I was no happy having any DRM crap on my PC, so I never bothered to try and fix it.

        If this is the choice, get GOTY. More content and great value. Plus, you MUST play Fallout 3 to be a gamer.

        Seriously though, it's one of the best games of the decade.

          I would definitely play FO GOTY first then get NV if you like it. I can't say why but I think the feel of the game would be a bit different if I hadn't played FO3 first.

              Definitely do FO3 GOTY first. It is the same price but is already patched up and has 4 dlc with it.

              This will not be popular but I would then advise you to put Vegas on hold and get the Borderlands GOTY.

              By the time you get through those 2 stellar games Vegas should be debugged some and have some dlc.

                FO3 GOTY first because it got a better story and a lot better side quest as well as main quest, Also Fallout New Vegas as so may bugs in the game as this moment in time.

                    F3 GOTY. - It will keep you occupied for months. By that time, Vegas is more or less bug-free.

                    You could also start with F1, F2 switch to F Tactics.

                      And if you have xbox, there is Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. I think that is the name. Wasn't all that bad but very linear.

                        Who wants linear Fallout? I didn't walk into the Strip in New Vegas until hour 34, and I was completely fine with that.

                          I know the feeling. This being my 2nd playthrough, I have discovered EVERYTHING south of where you have the option of picking up Veronica. Freaking deathclaws cost me ALL OF MY AMMO! I only have Super Sledge by the time I quit last night. I don't want to fast travel to town either, makes me feel like I cheated, lol. I gotta fight my way back to a town again and then I will be fast traveling all over the place.

                          BTW - if you go somewhere near the bottom mid of map, you might a nice crashed vehicle with an awesome weapon near it. That is IF you survive what is in your path.

                              I have been wondering around all over trying to play certain quests that I have come across. I have zig zagged around trying to do this but its been fun. I have several quests that have parts in the strip and I will probably get those done tonight.
