When the technology was still new my brother got one and it kept disconnecting, never dared try one after that event doesn't mean they are bad though... (I try to stay away from them and I don't recommend you buy one)

The x11 I mentioned has USB connection to power/amplify the headset, they will not work if you plug the 3.5mm without the USB, same thing for most turtle beach headset and I believe many other gaming headphones!
