The responses in this thread are mostly long time CLRs.. this is not a good way to get a feedback on auto-select, since people here are usually a bit more mature and don't like stacking, even when on the winning side.

While I do hate team stacking, I also don't mind having a challenge on the losing team, but not being able to join a server and cooperate with friends is definitely a downer, 3xfaster TheRedComet (who you must've seen around) and I barely ever play alone, we get on vent, choose the same team and have fun, with auto-select and maps that last for over an hour.. meh! It won't make any consolenoobs happy either, they are also used to being able to play together.

It's definitely worth a try though!

Maybe we can test it out for a week.

Or.... what would be great is to have a poll on the forums. only problem is that not everyone who plays is registered or comes on the forums that frequently.

I doubt anyone would leave the server permanently for this. Any which way, I wouldn't mind a few slots opening up, it has been hard getting in the past few evenings.

We tried this in our old server and a few of the "core" guys got pissed and left but the server itself stayed fullish but there was A LOT of complaining. Another possibility is to set a automatic team balance, which takes the second place person off one team and switches him with a lower placed player on the other team. Set it to go off after 4-5 rounds. You could even have it set so if those 4-5 rounds were close the team balance wouldn't go off.

I always auto select, unless Its the last map of the night and I dont know if ill make it 30 rounds, then ill go ct just to help me end with a bang so I dont go to bed pissed off :P

I've noticed that too and I wonder what they are doing.

I grab a cig at map change alot so if its me siting in spec at round start thats why :P

I think you could if you joined on someone you knew.. you could get in on their side.. that was team stacking

No, autoassigned and autobalanced at map changes. You can only switch once if you do switch. Once per session.
