Is it my imagination, or do the aperture sights lower the accuracy of the rifles? I added one to the SVT40(?), which I thought was extremely accurate before, and suddenly I couldn't hit crap with it. I ended up going back to using iron sights.

The same thing happened for me with the exact same gun.Originally posted by Dead...Again View PostIs it my imagination, or do the aperture sights lower the accuracy of the rifles? same
The only gun I use the aperture sights on was the m1a1, because it's sights had such a tight ghost ring that it interfered with acquisition. But, yeah, the dot on the aperture sights is too big for accurate placement: it covers half the guy at any range...whereas you can pinpoint the iron sights and know right where they will hit.

Apeture sight with the SVT is teh suck.
It works well with what Skud says and it is great for medium range with the thompson.

Yeah, I think that's what I meant, above (I mixed it up with the m1a1 [still no good with these old guns], which I used a scope on). The carbine is the only one I use the aperture sight on.Originally posted by Apache Warrior View PostI use the aperture sight with the M1 Carbine and love it.

I like the aperature on all weapons that have the option. One example that comes to mind is the Gewehr. Sucked without aperature, rocked with it.

I also have had good luck with it on the Thompson and the PPSH. But, I prefer the drum magazine over it so I do not use it on either any more.

I used to shoot my Uncles M1 Carbine. He kept it after he returned from WWII.
