Well, it looks like there's gonna be more US vs Japan and more Soviet vs Nazi encounters.

I think the Ruskies get left out of most of the WWII games and it'll be interesting to see them more... we might actually get a Berlin battle rather than the generic D-Day.

This is why UT3's flop was such a shame, shooter fans should have new and original weapons/terrain/vehicles etc. to look forward to instead of the same old stale real-world stuff. Unfortunately it seems like PC shooter fans having become like their console brethren and just keep buying the same old thing year after year, so where's the motivation for a developer to innovate?

I always loved the WW2 games. I'll be buying it regardless who makes it. If I don't like it oh well. If I do like it, nice.

The modern era has always bored me. It was more raw during that time period, and blustering rough edges. CoD 2 I'm sure would have been better being made now then back when. This may not be a hit JUST BECAUSE so many WW2 games have already come out, but as the one generation passes another grows up.

Because some people hate anything that isn't entirely based on real life. It doesn't matter if the weapons don't actually handle or sound exactly like their real-world counterparts, or that it takes more than a single bullet to down an enemy. Some people have a very hard time suspending disbelief when the subject matter doesn't line up with their very literal definition of reality.

Exactly, I was going to say basically the same thing. If we can't relate to it it might not work. Halo did, but then again, that is Halo. To futuristic and it might not be popular, this at least we have a handle on.
