Profile Help

I just started using my new gaming system...w00t. There is one problem, Steam will not recognize my COD4 profile. I copied the Mod folder and the player folder in to the common folder like Steam said I needed to have to reload my levels. Well I copied that into my new Steam folder and guess what....COD4 says that my profile isn't valid and I have lost all my levels. If I wasn't so happy about my new computer I would cry. Anyone else run into this? I don't mind going through it again but it sure would be nice to have something besides a water pistol to shoot with.

I have ran into the same problem but my profile has reset it self 4 times
I never really took it well, but I just got right back on my feet

Grab your MP5 and go to work. OR, go buy the disk.

Thats why I prefer games on discs

Yeah I won't be buying anymore Steam games for sure. I want the disc in my hands from now on and games that I can play even if the cute little GUI is not working. I've done everything and the profile just will not reset to my original so I guess I am starting over again. I played earlier and man I do love my new computer. I just wish it would improve my score.

Well sorry to hear bout having to start over...it has happened to a few of us...glad to hear you are enjoying ur new rig though Now brush up and I'll see u on the field

I like having my games on Steam. Lost or scratched disc are not a problem. Adding the game to a second or third computer is not a problem either.

just changed out MoBo's and my profile got re-set as well. So i'll be throwing in the back-up I have and hoping that works. lol.

Just formatted my C:/ drive (and my stats are on my D:/) and apparently my profile got bugged somehow, regardless of the fact that it was twice backed up on a separate hard drive.

*doh* Oh well. I've been out of the game for awhile, it won't hurt to re-work levels.

Forget this "start over" stuff, call Valve tech support and get them to figure it out for you!
