did u patch to 1.41 first then patch it to 1.50??

Initially I did not. I googled it, and came across that as a possible solution. So I:
Installed BF2
Installed BF2 SF
Installed patch 1.41
Installed patch 1.5

this worked for me

I downloaded the patch and reinstalled the game. For some reason, I can't get the game to load after installing the patch. I see a black screen, then it goes back to the desktop. I need to google it to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

I would say make sure your drivers are up to date.

You can also try running in compatibility mode.

I don't know what it could be I'm running Vista 64 and have no issues, But your not the only one to have issues. Some people across serveral different BF2 forums are having issues (even the ol BSOD) Sorry I'm not much of help

Well I am not sure that they have done a good job. I was on a server when someone announced that they were an EA Admin and was going to do things to the server for blah, blah, blah. One second I was stood on the ground, next I was like 7000 feet in the air and stuck there. same when I flew the jet. I am guessing someone was doing some serious new hacking. As I was the only non clan member as the person systematically banned the non clan members I got banned also but went back a few minutes later so not a real ban, just a hack ban.
