Need Help !

hey my mate bought bfbc2 and he is having trouble updateing to the latest version it says (server is down or internet no connected play old version?) he has all his anti virus and firewalls off he has tried running as admin and reinstalling it but still same thing does anyone know how to do this???

One thing you can check would be ECN, Cobalt had trouble with it and figured it out. To check ECN status: open a command prompt (must run as administrator) and type without quotes "netsh int tcp show global"
Look for "ECN Capability" should be listed as disabled.
To disable type "netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled"

Not saying this is the problem, but can't hurt to check till someone comes in with something else

he has windows XP service pack three he said it didnt work

did he install it as administrator.....My Computer -> CD drive -> right click-> explore -> right click setup.exe -> run as admin

i dont remember if xp has administrator thingys like windows 7 but meh i tried

Since he is your friend, I will assume he has an IQ of 45.

Tell him to launch the updater, not the game.

C:Program Files/EA/Battlefield Bad Company 2/BFBC2updater.exe

If it gives him the message then tell him to contact EA since there is nothing he can do about it.
