    RPG/SMAW One Hit One Kill?

    Has anyone else been getting killed in a tank via single shot RPG/SMAW?

    Even a rear shot shouldn't be able to kill a tank. Yet last night on Operation Lamestorm I was getting nailed often just like that.

    Ha. I dont know about that. It takes me at least 3 hits on them things sometimes no matter where I've hit em. I've hit em twice right straight in the back and didnt even disable them. I know sometimes they are being repaired. But when I can see that no one is repairing and I hit em 2 times in the rear, it should at least disable them.

    This game is so inconsistant, it gets frustrating trying to kill em.

    In reference to your statement, you might have been damaged by an AA gun or something and not known it.

      I have hit tanks with a one shot kill before. Then again I have hit a tank with 3 tow missles to the side and didn't disable it.

      Things that might have hurt the tank could be an exploding car next them?
      Or it could have been multiple rockets at the same time. Or maybe it hit the undercarraige of the tank and thats the weak spot.

      Maybe we can set up some shots with an easy RPG to the underside of a tank.

      Remember fire storm has alot of places where the angle might have been right as well.

        Rand and I died in a tank at least twice last night on Caspian. One may have detonated friendly landmines around us.

          Apache's right, we noticed the same thing last night. The second time it happened, there wasn't any mine or anything like that to boost the RPG. Considering every point I've found and hit so far with tank shells and RPGs take multiple hits (I'm talking 3+), something may be up. I'm going to keep an eye out and try to figure out what.

          If nothing else, it's unbalancing compared to other vehicles if it still takes more than 1 RPG to kill a frigging jeep, and it may be something DICE has to address. But for now, benefit of the doubt and all.

            Maybe someone stuck C4 on the tank and died before they could detonate, then someone hit the C4 with a rocket?

              I've seen this happen. Typically it's because of other explosives in the area (mines, C4, etc) going off on the tank all at once.

                No it was a fresh tank right off the factory floor lol...

                I had no WARN messages or anything... just sitting pretty with my thermal optics when BOOM HEADSHOT!!! I was dead.

                  In the loading screen the "hints" say that rockets and RPG's require a minimum arming distance to have the most explosive effect.
                  I was wondering why it does little damage when I'm real close, but when I'm medium to far, it really packs a punch. Perhaps this could be the cause?

                    I'm thinking that it might be the same thing it was in BC2 where you could hit it from behind and kill it. I might be wrong though. There could be a weak point though.

                      This. No disabling along the way, perfect 100% health, freshly spawned tank with nobody able to c4 the thing.

                        I've noticed Tanks are fairly inconsistent, which is truly a shame. I have thermal optics, reactive armor, and Canister as my upgrades. No one will be repairing the enemy. Reactive armor basically gives you one free hit that does hardly any damage to the rear and both sides. I'll lose the reactive armor, turn my tank so my front is pointing at them, and then start firing at the opponents side, meaning I should easily win this battle. No one repairs their tank.... yet I die...

                          Canister is an anti-infantry round. If it's even remotely like real life, it's going to do very little damage to enemy armor compared to default rounds. That's why you're losing.

                            Lol I don't use the Canister at a tank. I use the main cannons.

                              I've blown up jets and helos with landmines by shooting them with a sniper round. Was cool as hell too the timing.
