Potential Factory OC Card Troubles

Not likely. RAM issues usually result in a BSOD or system restart. But worth checking anyway.Originally posted by Bon3z View PostOne thing I just remembered, I forgot to check my Ram voltage. My Ram runs at 1.65v instead of the standard 1.5v. I wonder if my motherboard adjusted it correctly. If not, maybe the Ram is playing a part in this.
70C is nothing!Originally posted by Bon3z View PostOh really! I'll have to do that. My card was at around 70C and the fan was still set pretty low.
Only generation i ever remember that being a major problem with was the 8800 series.Originally posted by Dead...Again View PostFor some dumb reason, NVIDIA cards don't seem to have automatic fan control out of the box...

Some of the 570/580 series cards are not being shipped with a default fan profile that works as expected. I read up on a few cards from certain vendors that were not ramping up the fan speeds as the card heated up.
Its quite rare in fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if a driver update may have something to do with the problem. Also, the 570 cards seem to have more than their fair share of problems with the VRMs overheating. Nothing you can do after they go bad other than RMA the card.Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

Well, my underclocking solution is still working. In fact, I forgot to underclock this morning for a quick game. Locked up right away. After I changed my settings, no issues whatsoever.--Bones--

Would appear you've joined the ever increasing 'poor factory overclock stabilty club'.Originally posted by Bon3z View PostWell, my underclocking solution is still working. Well, I'll play with it this weekend and see if I can find something stable. Maybe a bit more carefully applied voltage. And this is assuming it's the card and not something in the game or drivers. I'll try taking off my OC of the CPU to see if that makes any difference.
But, I am VERY happy I can play. I haven't measured my FPS, but it looks gorgeous and smooth.--Bones--

That is the EXACT issue that the Zotac cards exhibit. Google 'Zotac SLI issues' and you'll find some odd things going on. It appears the Zotac cards, among others, are not being set from the vendor with the same voltage to the card, ie: some are set for 1.0v and another (identical) card is set for 1.013v.Originally posted by Bon3z View PostMaybe a bit more carefully applied voltage.Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

My GTX275 did it also. The fan never went above 40%. Ever since then, I have always used Rivatuner and now Precision to control the fan.Originally posted by juneau View PostNot likely. RAM issues usually result in a BSOD or system restart. But worth checking anyway.

My 8800gt was factory OC'ed, no issues, my new 560 is factory OC'ed, no issues last night.
Have those of you having problems ever gone beyond the manufacturer overclock and maybe have damaged silicon now? Always possible prior additional clocking could have caused problems that didn't show till the cards really get worked by the new game.

Nope. Brand new computer upgrade (everything but my hard drives and monitor). Doing a bit more research, this is not an unusual problem with factory overclock issues in some games. Reading a bit on the EVGA forums, some have increased the factory voltage to get some stability. I'll play with it this weekend when I'm not pwning noobsOriginally posted by Timi View PostMy 8800gt was factory OC'ed, no issues, my new 560 is factory OC'ed, no issues last night.

I will report I've been getting some odd behavior with my evga 570 factory OCed... using the recommended latest whql drivers too.
Once in a while the screen goes black and I can see my mouse cursor in certain areas near the middle of the screen. It's almost as if a popup window in the browser came up and it wants to be "in front" of BF3...
