I don't really think a WWI shooter would be that interesting. Trench warfare was brutal, but would not be very exciting from the FPS point-of-view. Plus no automatic weapons...
Not many WWI games have been made really. Kind of a shame.
But it's definitely not a "Battlefield War." I don't fancy rolling about trench and mud-covered fields at 10 MPH in the electronic version of what passed for a tank back then, there were no APCs, the planes and bombers were both bi- and tri-planes that you initially just dropped bombs out the open side by hand and took awhile for someone to invent the firing mechanisms for the mounted MGs to shoot through the props, and no other types of vehicles that would work on the field of battle (horses and early trucks/motorcycles limited to rear duty). If they brought back ships as in BF1942 that could be a little fun, but that would be about it.
It's not a Battlefield game without the vehicles, and I'm not keen on Trench Digging Simulator 2017 as a gaming concept. Pass.
I'm up for any good game that could bring some of the same fun we all used to have but I just don't see how a game set in WWI will bring that about. I won't be pre ordering it but I will keep an open mind.
In a WWI game you could have bolt action rifles, machine guns, mortars, artillery, poison gas, tanks that a rifleman might be able to stand a chance against, flamethrowers and dawn of flight aircraft. However, I would much prefer going back to the 2142 timeline. It's all in the VOIP anyway.
As far as SW Battlefront, it was OK while your are levelling but after you hit 50 the game play just wasn't that great. I was mostly looking forward to the X-Wing/TIE fighter portion of the game and that was pretty fundamental. Anyone who could figure out cutting power to the engines and transferring it to weapons was going to dominate.
THAT being said, I would love a new good WWI flight sim like Red Baron. The campaign mode in that was awesome.
I liked the Campaign mode in Aces Over The Pacific. And you could fly historic missions too.

Where do you put the Bayonet?
Chesty Puller (upon seeing a flamethrower for the first time)
I am all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Lets start with typewriters.

Having tried many cases I've given up on expensive ones. Not convinced they are significantly better than an inexpensive gel case for 1/10 the money....
