    Tv on Computer?

Is there some device that would allow me to watch TV on my Laptop? I live in a college dorm, and I have been missing all of my favorite TV shows. Could anyone suggest what device could work if there is one?

Don't forget, most of the major networks have HD streaming media now, usually a few days after the shows are on. If you want to go the less legal route, there's lots of bittorrent sites out there.

A quick search of Newegg turns up a device like this: Newegg.com - AVerMedia AVerTV Hybrid Volar Max MTVHBVMXR USB 2.0 Interface - TV Tuners & Video Devices

No idea how that would work in the real world though.

I dont recommend getting a TV tuner... U will still need an antenna, and all the other crap... I say get to the channels that broadcast and watch it there. I watched all seasons of lost on ABC.com and mostly in HD.

House doesn't post until 8 (!) days after the show runs. So I'm going to see episode 3 live tonight a day before I'll be able to catch up on episode 2 online.

P.S. Kyle, what's the college cable situation? If it's like most, your student fees and room fees are covering cable. This DOES make a TV tuner attractive. Don't listen to Phantom.

No, no fees. If you have a TV you call maintence, and come and hook you up.
If I did get a TV tuner, how would that work with a Dell XPS
            M1530 Laptop?

You would prolly have to get a usb or firewire tuner box that you then plug into your laptop..

I use Joost for some, hulu.com for others and the ones they don't have I go to the networks website since most of them steam the shows I missed full screen.

If you have a place you call home away from school, setup a slingbox and you can watch any channel on cable. I do this at work for football. You have to have a high speed connection at home with a decent upstream. I love my slingbox!

Although I have no idea how it works.. here is some info:

It looks like all you have to do is buy the box: a one time fee of $180 for the "solo" package.

hmm, looks interesting, but me being a college student right now I can't afford much.
