    Need good, FREE IRC client

    Suggestions ??

Oh wow, I haven't used IRC in a long time. Looking at download.com and google results, it appears mIRC is still out there and going strong. It's interesting to see there is a FireFox browser plugin called ChatZilla that digg is talking about.
There's also one called Trillian that I tried years ago. It's not a dedicated IRC chat program, but the kewl thing is it supports chatting with IRC, AIM, MSN Messenger, ICQ and Yahoo Messenger.

Let me know what you find out and good luck.

mIRC is shareware, expires after 30days, one I use you can still use after 30days, just the about box hangs about for 10 seconds on start.

I'm not insane. I'm just overwhelming!

I still use mIRC. Got a license for it due to the shareware status and I didn't want to rip it off. I much prefer it to any of the other IRC clients that I've tried, even with the cost. I have 2 or 3 channels that I hang out in pretty much 24/7 as long as my computer is online.

I just saw this as I happen to look for the post on Abit Boards.

What is the application of the IRC?

It depends on what you are using for as each have different features.
In college I ran the one we used for gaming, about 15 of us.

A coworker ran across digsby. It's a pretty slick IM client unfortunately it dosn't support IRC yet... I've used MIRC and it work good.
