    Memory usage from Firefox.

Something is wrong with my computer, it acts very slow at times. I get theses warnings that firefox is using too much memory, in this case it said 304Mb. Is this a coincidence? I was thinking that it was a problem with Firefox but I just was away from home or 8 days using it on my laptop without any issues at all.

Firefox has always used that much when you open multiple tabs. Something else is probably slowing you down.

Maybe an extension is running a little wild? 304Mb isn't much memory. Maybe something else was crowding the environment?

Firefox has installed several memory management enhancements in the last year. You probably already have those unless you turned off auto-update.

Did you ever fix this Duke? Firefox really shouldn't be causing issues with that memory usage. I have left Firefox open and used it for days sometimes! It tends to get a little stuttery sometimes but that's because its memory usage is usually around 800MB.

I haven't had 800 MB usage even with 24 tabs open... but they weren't 24 tabs of blogs and BattleLog...

Multiple tabs seems to be fine. My high usage comes from having my PC on 24/7 and leaving Firefox up. 4 days of web browsing can really mess things up.

I'm on the road now but I think my problems may have to do with my HDDs being nearly full. Just before I left fror this triop I noticed that my storage drive was nearly full I have no clue as to why this would be. When I get home I want to look into it. Firefox is running fine on my laptop so this problem is like due to something at home.

When Windows gives those "x program is using too much memory" warnings, it's not exactly telling the truth. What it really means is your system in general is low on memory, and the program that it names is the one that's using the largest chunk. So (and this is an extreme example), if you have 100 little things running each taking up 10MB, and Firefox is running and using up 100MB, those 100 little things will actually be using up 1GB of your memory, but the warning will still name Firefox.

Thanks for the explanation, I have 6Gb of memory and it usually indicates around %40 or so. I will take a peek at the indicator next time and see where it's at.
