I think it comes down to what is more valuable to you.
Your Time? Buy a Dell.
Your Money? Build one yourself then.
I usually can save about $1000 for a pretty highend system building it myself. That is worth my time for me. If it was only $300-$500, I'd probably order it and not have the hassle.I'm here to kill friends. Do you want to be my friend?

More of starting with a PC components configurer(free of course), and possibly down the line actually building the systems themselves.Originally posted by BigTwinkyOn starting up your own place to build PCs or shopping for a PC place to have your stuff built at?Originally posted by darth_nevusTruth be told, i am working on this EXACT thing now. lol.Originally posted by BigTwinkyA tech guy here at work, who has been working with PCs for over 25 years and has built way too many to remember, recommended a place that uses name brand parts and charges you $50 to build the thing + 1 year warranty. Their website allows you to put together various types of PCs, so you have flexibility, and the techs review your setup to ensure everything fits.
One thing that's always irked me is the lack of component compatable things out out there. you buy a mobo, but are not sure if it'll work with certain parts. ram is particularly testy, and for the novice, or new to building user, it could come in handy.
