AMD's Bulldozer to ship by next week ??

    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/computers/...zer-chips/6587

At the annual Hot Chips conference, AMD provided some new details on the innovative Bulldozer architecture behind the upcoming FX Series for desktops and Opteron server processors.

Should be interesting to see how this stacks up to the 2600K Intel chip, and if so, will Intel schedule a quick price cut on their model line ??
Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

This would be nice, after seeing that Microcenter sale on the 2500k I figure that there will be more coming up regardless of BDs performance.

Well considering AMD went the mass core route and Intel went Speed and a few cores, id say Intel will still hold its own easy.

Whats the point of say 8 cores when most games hardly utilize 2-3.

They also didn't say what the cores would be clocked at and they are keeping to there backwards compatibility which will hold the new system back.

Some of the gains from the 1156 to the 1155 are from North/Southbridge optimization and redesigns.

AMD has never really tried to compete with Intel's top of the line, but it will also be interesting to see how bulldozer stacks up against Sandy Bridge-E, due out in the near future.

Regarding the number of cores, more and more apps and games take advantage of multiple cores, so I would think that, if two CPUs are comparable in performance, having more cores will improve your longevity.

I hope these come out at a decent price. That is what's important to me right now.

AMD has always priced their CPUs lower than Intel. I'm sure that will continue with Bulldozer.
