    Ram Question

So currently i have 2x2 4gigs of Kingston HyperX Blu (Genesis edition)
current ram is DDR3 1600 CAS timing 9: Voltage 1.65
    current timing is 9-9-9-27

so i bought a FEW more on amazon. i bought a whopping 16gigs.. i dont need it but it came in a bundle and i could use or sell it later.

the ram is also a Kingston HyperX Blu (regular)
    voltage: 1.65
    cas timing: 9

would it slow down my rams?

so you have 2x2GB and 2x8GB? If so, I would just replace the 2 2GB sticks with the 2 8GB ones.

i have no use for 16gigs >_> its cool to have it.. but ill throw it in my stash off goodies.

yea i currently have 2x2gb that i want to use.
16gigs wont even matter for gaming.. more for rendering and studios work.

I'm getting confused. You bought a bunch of RAM even though you knew you didn't want nor need it?

If you run ESXi or any other Virtualization product it could come in handy

my bios recognizes it as 1333mhz.. how do i set it as 1600mhz? theres a ratio of config.. ratio as 2:1,4:1,etc.
4:1 brings the mhz up to 1600mhz.

                    any help?

                      what motherboard do you have?

BTW, I think the sweet spot for RAM right now is probably 6-8GB, and having too much is better than having too little.

Throw in the two larger sticks, it;s a no brainer.

It looks like that mobo only handles up to 1333 by default. Found this:
                            http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/28...t-setting-1600
                            that should help.
