This was a problem with EVGA boards as well, pull two sticks and see what happens. I would still try the voltage change first.

Here is another thread I found that is specific to your motherboard:

Heat is a factor of overclocking, but everyone knows that. It's why so many people buy aftermarket coolers.Originally posted by Pumpkin_Jack View PostOr overheating..... thats what i did, Burnt my hand and other small problems. Have heard stories on other sites i visit about parts breaking.
Parts breaking? Very unlikely. I'd put it down to chance. Either that or they're going for some really agressive overclock and upping volts to unsafe levels.

I will go out on an overclocker limb here and say that chip should overclock very well. I had an e6600 (2.66ghz) chip in a stout rig (at the time) that I sold to Holy-Hand-Grenade a few years back and it was humming along at 3.66ghz with no issues whatsoever.
That's a full 1ghz OC, with the Arctic Cooler Freezer Pro 7 HSF keeping the chip nice and cool. This was at default voltages, so I either had a 'golden' chip or they are just that good.
To be honest, if it was my rig I would overclock it to 3.5 just to be on the safe side, but I'd also think about pulling it in a year at most and replacing it with a Kenstfield Q6600 2.66 chip, and overclocking that quad core to 3.66ghz. Dual core is just so end of the road, especially when you are playing BF3.Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

You should get at least another 200Mhz out of that chip depending on your motherboard. I currently have my e6750 at 3.5Ghz.Originally posted by Dead_And_Gone View PostI'm going to try to OC mine tonight, since I had frame problems ingame yesterday.. Dual core E6850 3.0 Ghz
Zalman 110mm 2 ball CPU cooler
Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) 240 pin DDR2 SDRAM
Timing
5-5-5-18
Voltage
1.8V
Will see what i can do with it
