    Goldenfool Back from the dead

I will be back in the game with BF3. Have to get a new computer mine blew up. Anyone out there know of a good place to get one built. I don't have the time to go into any build myself.

PS. Sorry about abrupt depature before. Smiling already from reading the posts.

Welcome back! I think Rand had one built by velocity Micro that has served him well and I have had good luck with my Dell XPS laptop I had a few years back.

Welcome back to the Lair GoldenFooler

Apache is right. Building your own computer doesnt take very long. Just got to make sure that all your parts are compatible and then wait for them to ship. When I built mine I built it in a couple hours and was playing games before you knew it.

But if you really want to have someone built your rig for you check this site out. This is the site I was looking at before Apache and Black Arrow conviced me to build my own

Welcome back. Shouldn't take too long to build it, maybe an hour for parts assembly and another few to babysit os / software installs. Though after the luck ive had with the last pc I build im starting to reconsider.

I have built one before, but with my new job don't have the time to look up everything. Want to shorten any amount of frustration time.

PS... if your in NJ and want to buy a Volvo. I would be happy to sell .

Has anyone heard of microcenter? I have one near me and the prices seem to be ok.
The other one I was put on to was digital storm.
I will look at the one you were looking at.
Thanks and look forward to fragging you all. Nothing is better then killing apaches squad.

Microcenter is a great place to start, as you go along run you parts by us to get some different opinions.

                Thanks Duke.
I am so far between 2 different companies. Again not builting my own<maybe configuring but not building>. The price point is the same for both companies. I would pay more for a better customer service and ease of use over cheaper.

The ODE level one on digital storm. This is upgradeable with more ram (2 slots open) and another Video card slot open as well.

I do like the fact that I can do an upgrade parts warranty for up to 5 years.

Then there is the microcenter one. I have been in the store and not hugely impressed with the service. But it is only 20 mins from my house.

I don't know how to compare the speeds. I really care less about the blueray player or the SSD as these will not effect really anything that I do .

the Digital storm has an nvida GTX 570 with 1.25 gb VS microcenter at Radeon 9650.

Digital Storm Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) VS microcenter Intell 960 with 3.2 Ghz quad core.

4 Gb more of ram on the microcenter... but I don't know how much effect type would come into play.

                Digital Storm 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair XMS3 Series (High-Performance)VS
                12GB DDR3-1333 RAM <name not listed on website>

                Any help would be appreciated

Oh yea. I don't think i will be paying taxes for Digital Storm but have to pay 3.5% taxes for paterson NJ on the micro center

Based on what you have listed, I would go with the Digital Storm. The 2600K is very easy to OC, and you have more upgradability options in the future. The next generation Intel CPUs (Ivy Bridge) should be a drop-in replacement for the 2600K. The LGA1366 socket is EOL, so CPU no upgrade options will be available.

I agree on the digital storm when compared to the MC one but it does not support SLI. There are some that never have used SLI but I have used it in the past and am using it now so I would want it.

Doesn't Microcenter build a rig with parts you select? If so we could get better components for you then what they are using.

I'm a little bored so I modified a list that I had saved for a friend of mine. Here is the related post for his build. A build for a friend. EDIT Finished add pics. - Cain's Lair Forums

I went ahead and downgraded the video card, MB and CPU and came up with the list below. it could be tweaked either way depending upon your budget.

Ok I choose because of price point not to get the SLI. It would have made a build closer to $1800.
The next question is screen. Looking at screens in the store to get an idea LCD looked richer in colors. But I know uses more electric. Price is comparbible for each at at 23 inch monitor.

                            So which would you choose.

Go with the looks and the speed, if you want to be green get a better PSU and a MB that has green features.
