    Windows Defender vs MSE

What's the difference and which is better.

Also, can you install the same Malware Antimalware bytes on 2 computers if you want (using the same #)?

They are essentially the same thing IRC...MSE is just a newer version

On teh MalwareBytes issue, did you buy the Pro version ?? It was on sale at Newegg last week for $16, and that version can be registered for numerous PCs, as long as they are accessing the web thru the same IP address.

To answer your question, Windows Defender is a malware service only and Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is an Antivirus and Malware service combined into one service called "Microsoft Antimalware Service" or MsMpSvc.

When MSE is install it does not deinstall the binaries for Defender it just changes the Defender service from an automatic startup to a manual one. Now this is on Windows 7, Microsoft says something different for XP.
