Actually, if you look at the site you linked, 2014 is extended support for those who have purchased that. Extended support is not available for consumers, only commercial customers who have bought it. Consumer support ended April 14, 2009.

Here's another MS page on end of support:
Windows End of Support Information - Windows Help & How-to
At the very least Tony, make sure you have Service Pack 3.

I quoted directly from their Windows XP tab where it said, "...we still plan to provide support for individual users and businesses until April 2014." Maybe that didn't come up in the default view on the link?Originally posted by Trooper110 View PostActually, if you look at the site you linked, 2014 is extended support for those who have purchased that. Individual users have 3 more years. I guess they intentionally left the old date on their main page to encourage folks to upgrade sooner.

this is the only correct answer.Originally posted by WalkinTarget View PostHah, spoken like a true consumerist.
Repair install will be fine for you, or you can also go into the Device Mangler and change the ATA controller from what it is currently set at to 'Generic STA controller'.
I assume you are going from either AMD to AMD or Intel to Intel ??
