Blu Ray Drive (PC) question

I Recently ordered 2 Samsung Blu ray drives from newegg
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Combo Drive - Bulk Model SH-B083LBSBP LightScribe Support - Blu-Ray Drives (just notice the prices went up I paid 79.99 each) Im actually a ASUS fan and been using ASUS drives for several years now. But for some reason I just dont feel that their Blu ray drives are there.

Anyway I placed my order before my question and curiosity pop in my head, my question is this; What are the drive requirements for the 3D? The only info I can find is on the AVforums it isnt much

Blu Ray Drive
Blu Ray drive with 2x BDMV (AACS Compliant Disc) read speed or faster

I would like to know what backs that info. Been scouring the web and cant find anything else.

Where is the question? Are you seriously asking if your Blu-ray players play blu-rays?

What are the drive requirements for the 3D?

Most current Blu ray players get a update to play Blu Ray "3D." But what about the PC blu ray drive's. Where are the Blu ray drive "3D compatible" for the PC. It seems all of the current PC blu ray drives have no mention of 3D compatible.

All Blu-Ray players play 3D. 3D does NOT depend on the DRIVE itself. It is the video encoding itself. It's about your monitor + graphics card (Monitor only if it isn't a game). Not to mention a piece of software called a video player.

Am I missing something?

Not all Blu-Ray players play 3D media. You're forgetting about stand-alone players for media centers. They need the right firmware, and most players out there now won't support 3D playback. The PS3 is an exception, which is another reason why it's probably still the best Blu-Ray player out there.

Yeah what Rand said lol, Not all Blu-Ray players play 3D media. For example;

My Sony Sonystyle | Blu ray BDP-S550 player is apparently "not" 3d ready/compatible cause the last firme ware update is 10/22/2009 and for as much money that I spent on the stupid thing, it should get more updates It had great reviews at the time and is quick to start a blu ray. (I'm sure todays Blu rays are probably faster). The only system that has been compatible/ready with the Blu ray 3d Media since 2006 is the PS3. I just dont need a PS3 and the Slim models are butt ugly

With that said, I feel disappointed but it is what it is and can't cry over spilled chilli cheese fries. The reason I asked about the blu ray drives is cause I want to watch blu ray 3d movies at my desk. And at my living room, I'm working on my HTPC. As much as I like having the physical media, I need to consolidate my DVD's and Blu rays otherwise I'll be end up calling a Geek

Oh yeah...Maximum PC magazine recently did an article on building a 3D Blu-Ray HTPC. They listed all the requirements. Unfortunately I left my copy in Houston but it may be online at MaxPC.com.

Thanks MR_MADHATTER and H0ly-H@nd-Gr3nade, for mentioning that great article, Very helpful and offered a different insight from AVforums 3D subject. What I really like about that article is they use the same Samsung Blu Ray drive as mine. I knew Samsung was the way to go over ASUS

Also glad Nvidia is the way to go, I was about to pick *GASP* ATI GPU
