CF portion of card reader kaput

I have this multimedia card reader with 4 USB ports and a few other slots for CF, SD, SM, etc. It's an external one made by iRocks. The USB functions are fine and the only slot I use is the CF for my digital camera. Suddenly the CF reader part stopped working. What could be the issue? Just dead?

I have a similar reader. Half of it is dead. Half is working fine. Apparently happens quite a bit.

It's not a huge loss - the thing cost around 30 bucks 2 years ago. But still - things aren't made to the same standards as they used to be sigh

Can anyone think of a good replacement? Preferably one that has extra usb slots as well
