      I'd agree....this is a topic about the upcoming changes and improvements they're making in Office 2010 though

      Plus there's still a lot of us that are forced to use MS Office products in the workplace.

        can you save files in an MS Word/Office compatible file with OpenOffice?

          Yes you can, I believe they even have support for the .docx XML based document that 2007 uses as it's default save type.
