Well, I would avoide ibuypower as they have almost no customer service and questionable parts at best... I would simply build one myself so I know the quality of the parts at the very least...

Defintely make it yourself. Far more rewarding and everything will be to your own specification.

Moving this to the Computer Lab.

What kind of budget do you have? Do you plan to use any existing parts from your current PC? Let us know and we'll spec you up. Probably from newegg.

A thousand will get you a really nice computer if you make it yourself. If you do it right, it'll be far better then a pre-built one. A self made computer is far cheaper and alot of fun...

Make sure you don't screw it up if you build it yourself. You can burn everything with one mistake. Then you end up buying a 300 dollar laptop

Build it yourself, It's a no brainer.... unless you don't have a brain or like to waste money. For 2k you can build yourself a sweet rig and you could throw the thing together in 1/2 a day.

                Build it!

I would suggest going to Newegg.com, they have 1 of the largest selections around and a decent return policy.

You just have to have the time and patience to search for parts that will work together well and not cause headaches.

Wow! That must have one hell of a mistake! What did you do? Overvolt the PSU or something? It is very hard to destroy a PC like that.

Most items do yes. Changing PC hardware is a simple as changing a plug.

Who needs instructions....there's plenty of websites out there, and a good number of us here on Cain's have built computers before and are always willing to help.

This only works if he has another computer handy to use.
