    Budget X58 roundup review

Saying 'budget' when the boards cost over $200 is somewhat ironic, but compared to the eVGA X58 Classified at $450 retail, I guess I'll stick with it:

Nice read for anyone looking at stepping up to an i7 build in the near future. I just can't justify it yet when my Q6700 @ 3.5ghz is hardly breaking a sweat. Anyone looking at an X58 or i7 build over the Spring or Summer ?

And this is why i'm not upgrading. Motherboards are fast becoming the most expensive part of a PC.

Haha ... I am patiently awaiting Ghost's reply to that one myself !

Interesting to see the price of top end video cards creeping down from the 8800 Ultra fiasco (at around $800) but the mainboards are now rising in price to make up any savings on he video card !!!

Intel surely can't expect anyone but the hardcore hardware nuts (Ghost, that's you again) to be interested in paying such a huge cash outlay for something that in turn requires them to scrap their existing:

            CPU
            RAM
            Heatsink

Umm, the 'Classified' board ? It was just launched March 11, 2009, so that really says something about eVGA's RMA processing that you got two boards in 10 days already !

All this MB talk is making feel bad about buying the rig at CC a few weeks ago. It makes it very hard to put another PC into the budget.
