Amen brother, THAT is the only reason Vista has gotten such a bad rap from people is because the third party driver manufacturers were either not provided an SDK and test platform in time or they just smooched the pooch.

+1 THat was the biggest problem when Vista came out. The majority of the issues people had were with 3rd party drivers. Hell, Creative fought tooth and nail when it came to Vista drivers. They even threatened to sue some guy who came out with better Vista drivers for their stuff than they had.

Other then the annoyance of UAC the only issues I had were with my sound card. The when I heard about the guy in Brazil making Vista drivers that worked I felt that Creative was more at fault then m$.
