Apple: Jailbreaking your iPhone is illegal

But the courts have long recognized that copying software while reverse engineering is a fair use when done for purposes of fostering interoperability with independently created software, a body of law that Apple conveniently fails to mention.
More or less, just because Apple says it's illegal doesn't make it illegal.

I think I have only ever met 2 people that haven't Jailbroken their phone...I know when I bought both my wife and I the 16g phones, the first think I did was jailbreak them and start installing 3rd party Apps....
And with the way they limit Apps available through their store, its no wonder people jailbreak. Take Flash Player for instance...it was submitted to Apple months ago but they refuse to pass it through to the App Store, therefore a 3rd party programmer made a flash player himself and made it available to jailbroken phones

Couldn't agree more there are so many AMAZING applications out there, how dare they...And with the way they limit Apps available through their store, its no wonder people jailbreak.
ONE more reason why I am a firm believer of open source software.

Apple really needs to get a clue.
It's Steve's stupid attitude like this that is keeping him from really grabbing the market.
If he would get off his contract deals with a certain phone company, trying to lock the phone down, etc. He needs to start realizing that if he would open the phone up and freely allow people to run third party apps, all phone companies to carry/sell the iphone, etc, etc. sure would bring in a lot more revenue and market share.
He don't have a chance of even gaining ground on this claim. If I were to buy the phone for $400+, he can pretty much kiss my back side for trying to tell me what I can do with it.
This apple attitude is the primary reason I refuse to buy an iPhone, so I stayed with Sprint and got the Samsung Instinct instead.

You would think he would learn from his past stupid mistakes. This is why Microsoft and the PC dominate the the world of computing. If Steve had allowed other vendors to manufacture Apple Computers everyone would be using Apple's OS and he would have been the richest man in the world. You know Bill Gates thanks IBM and Steve Jobs everyday for their stupidity.Originally posted by DougBob View PostApple really needs to get a clue.
