    Instructional "Programs"

Here's a story I just read, apparantly from someone who was forced there by his parents, for being disrespectful.
I was sent to a program...
November 17th, 2007 5 a.m. I wake up to 2 government transporters. I had no idea what was happening. At first I thought someone in my family died. I was scared. I look at my parents and ask what's going on. My mom starts to cry. Bad sign. They say I'm going to "school". Unlikely it being 5 am on saturday. They took away my shoelaces and escorted me to their car. Last thing I saw were my parents crying at the door. Still confused I asked the trasnporters where I was going. They wouldn't tell me. I get to my local airport and I'm escorted through to the terminal where I board a plane to Saint George, Utah. Nervous and scared I don't know what to think. I land in Utah begin a car ride to my destination. I arrive at a sort of oasis in the dessert of southern Utah. I read the sign: "Diamond Ranch Academy". I enter a small house where I am stripped search and my belongings are taken away. I am issued orange clothing. They put me in what they call "homeleess" It is the first of 6 levels of this program. In the homeless component you are outside all day until 8 pm where u then go into the dorms and sleep immdeiatly. You awake at 5 am and do calistentics. Tired and sweating you continue through the scorching hot day doing various work projects and running and other physical activities. This level is a minumum of 14 days. Once you complete those days successfully you get "inside" with all the other kids. Inside there are 5 more levels you must complete. Each having difficult tasks and such. I could go into detail but I'll save you a wall of text. I completed all 6 of Diamond Ranch Academy's level and graduated September 26th,2008. I was there for 10 months 1 week and 2 days. Why was i sent? I was literally sent for bad behavior. No drugs. No alchohol. Little sex. Just because I was disrepectful. Weaksauce i kno.

Any contact?: Only contact i had with anybody outside was a 30 minute phone call with my parents every 2 weeks.

Feelings towards parents?: I forgive them. I've learned many good things from the program. Mainly respect and discipline.

I don't see any problems with it, and I'm sure if it was terrible enough a kid could get themselves emancipated if they want to. If they're being sent there, I have to assume that there's a fairly good reason, no matter what the kid thinks.

Parents not wanting to deal with minor problems themselves?

It sounds like the kid was out of control and the parents smartened him up. It sounds like the kid got the message. I tell my kids that if they get a certain way I will send them to a similar place I'm gonna bookmark that link.

Found a bit more of it

They can tackle you and put you into the restraint. If you dont comply more and more pressure will be applied to ur wrist. There was an instance where a students for arm was fractured due to a wrong restraint due to bad training. If u even SPEAK of running they will put you on run watch. You will be strip searched every 2 hours even in the night. They take ur shoes and u wear flip flops all day.

A couple of weird things. I witnessed a kid throw a live lizard into one of those air conditioning fan things that re outside the buiding. A kid tried to brush his teeth with a sock and he brought his bed sheets into the shower and tried to bathe. A kid was punched in the stomach by a program director. He coughed up blood. A staff was beaten in the head with a rock by a student. I was put on suicide watch (worse than run watch) for drawing suicide silence in my notebook. I've been run until ive passed out. There's been a lizard in my bed. It goes
          on...
seriously doesn't sound like the sugar coating they make it out to be on the website

AntiWWASP Home Another link, this to the orginazation against these places

these schools will take anywhere from twenty-six thousand dollars to fifty-four thousand dollars annually from each family whose child is enrolled
Parents pay for their kids to be messed up and brainwashed?

Save the money... Hand to Butt works best. If that doesn't work... a little baking soda on the tongue. Gotta break'em when they are young.

Nail I got to say that any kid sent there had to be pretty messed up in the head. . .they probably needed it

I mean, how many people have you heard of being sent to one of these things before? Not one for me.

apparantly there's over 2000 kids in places like that. If you're a drug addict thats what rehab is for. Some parents send their kids with mental disabilities there too.

Kids 12-18 years old being forced onto the tile floor with their ankles being sat on and ground into the floor, not allowed to move all day except for 2 washroom breaks, and a workout (which can be 10,000 jumping jacks or 5000 pushups each). not to mention they close the windows and doors when it's "workout" time, so they have to lie on the ground in pools of sweat and hair when they are done... While at a camp a kid can be placed somewhere like this for up to 3 months for breaking a rule, such as no talking or communication of any sort.
A 12 year old girl was killed by suffocation by being "restrained" by 7 staff members. Reason? Blowing bubbles in her cereal.

Sounds like he is thankful, looks like something good came from it.

I agree completely. Thats how I was brought up and I turned out straight minus the occasional beer, which isn't really that bad. I am a firm believer in spanking and I believe thats why the younger generations here are getting so bad.

And yes, Naillik, I think its pretty screwed up for parents to resort to something this extreme. If the kid was screwed up enough to need to be sent away, there is always military school. I think it is a better alternative because at least the kid knows whats going on.

Also if the kid is that screwed up then there is some blame to be placed on the parents as well. Send them to some kind of camp where they can learn to be actual parents.
