    Proper investing

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you will have $49.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you will have $33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago,you will have $0.00 today.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you will have received a $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg Plan.

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon! Makes you proud to be an American!

I don't know about that beer thing. What kind of beer are you talking about? I don't drink canned beer but I imagine that it's got to be cheap and would throw you over the 22 gallon average.

If you bought $1,000 worth of Washington Mutual last month you wouldn't have enough to buy a beer today. Not even a Schlizt, or Busch or a feakin' peanut.

              Only in a few states..

I think they increase the price of the bottle/can by 5-10 cents when you buy it, and then you get it back if you return the empty bottle/can.

Texas doesn't do it so I don't know exactly how it works.

In NY when you buy a carbonated drink like pop or beer, you have to pay 5 cents for each can or bottle you get. After you drink them you can usually take them back to a store and return them for the 5 cents for each bottle again.

Not really. You get refunded a deposit that you pay when you buy certain beverage containers. It was started before recycling was around. If you buy a 6 pack of beer you pay $.05 per container coming to a whopping $.30.
