While checking the myspace this morning I saw something that dropped my jaw.....



IS THIS how people are advertising these days??????

Ya that is a little "forward" but it's not illegal to advertise so I guess it falls under freedom of speech. Plus lets be realistic for a good chunk of students that add did get their attention, take yourself as example. The very fact that you noticed it says that it is a good add for catching your interest.

What is so bad about that? Well, I guess you are a little young.
And, it is legal in some countries, that ad isnt just appearing for americans.
And, if the world is coming to legalizing mary jane, I would be one happy person.

I see my girlfriend on her Myspace sometimes and it always appears to have the same few adverts rotating. The scary thing is, the main one that i always see is Mya Plastic Surgery. What's main range of ages on Myspace again? I'd say about 12-25.

Indeed the intent....But it pisses me off that they know it will catch the kids attention (as it did mine). It is still promoting something that is illegal...(For now anyway Snake) and i believe that shouldn't be allowed

It is illegal for us. Not everyone seeing it lives in a place where it is illegal. But it probably is aimed toward American children.
What did it make you feel like? Did it actually offend you or what?
And you are on a street team? What kind of street team are you with that doesn't approve of marijuana?
The reason I ask about street team, is because the only street teams I know of are actual gangs.

A street team is someone who promotes a band... in my case RA (Rise Against). And the marijuana thing is something that bothers me...The fact that myspace is now more "for kids" it disturbs me that they allow ads like this on the website...

Just another fine example of folks that think because they do it so should everyone else. They can keep it as I have had friends that did drugs and some went to the pen because of it and ruined their lives over it. Even some railroad employees feel that they can still use the stuff and work without getting cought. Man we get drug and alcohol tested randomly or when we have wreaks, So its not worth it.

It isnt for everyone, that is for sure. And if I were a train driver I would NOT smoke or drink.That is crazy. I wouldnt even drive a car high. Driving scares me enough sober.

Keeping in mind that this forum is in the U.S.A. where it is illegal.

I think it should be legal, it is less damaging that tobacco or alcohol, supposedly there was a double blind study that showed it to inhibit the growth of tumors. And we all know all the other medical uses for it.

I dont think so.
I have a question about the clubs(what are they actually called? Marijuana clubs?) in California for the people with medical cards. Does anyone know if the government is taxing it? I assume they are.

Well, at least they have some sense :P Not sure on this, but if they were advertising marijuana on MySpace I'm pretty sure you could bring civil suit, if not criminal charges against them since their servers are located in the United States and it it illegal here. I guess it would depend on how they handle advertising and what exactly the laws are.

I know people who smoke pot. Some are company vice presidents, some are volunteers at shelters, some run family businesses, some are students, some are family, some are friends, some are soldiers, some are grandmother. All of which are 100% fine and respectable people, living great lives and good members of the community.

Sure, there are the deadbeats, the criminals, the hooligans and what not, but everyone always tends to paint a bleak picture of all pot users. And its really not the case.
