I tend to agree that myspace sucks. Its original intent I believe was a place for the public's self expression, it is not well designed and runs pretty slow in the few times I have gone over to check it out.[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.

I've found facebook to be an effective tool in re-connecting with past acquaintances and maintaining it with others. I've lived several places, and it's hard to keep in touch with the good friends made when you re-locate.
Myspace just didn't work as well to that end.Comment

I sort of agree with the sentiment behind this. I'm on facebook and myspace for pretty much the sole purpose to try and track down old friends from high school and college (if they ever join upOriginally posted by mapes View Post

However, in real life, "networking" is almost essential, but I really, really don't like it. I'll deal with people I need to for work of course, but I'm not one to approach random folks and start up conversations, so I find business-style networking incredibly difficult, sometimes imposing, and often just flat out boring.

Another great site is LinkedIn. Its a professional network. Great to keep in touch wtih that awesome DBA or super efficient project manager you worked with years ago.
