I can currently get a great deal to spend 7 nights at Ocean Two in St Lawrence Gap but i'm looking for a little more info before i pull the trigger.

I spent 2 weeks there a few years ago and I think you'll love it. The people were very nice and you will probably get some great weather. Some of the beaches are pretty tough to enjoy because they are mostly crushed shell and coral which can ruin your day.

We went on a number of tours. The 2 best were a day long driving tour of most of the island with several stops and a trip to the Mt. Gay distillery. The tour stopped at a botanical garden, a 200 or so year old church, a pottery and a few other spots.

If you are a rum fan then you are in for a treat. Take the Mt. Gay distillery tour and you will be tasting the best rum in the world, Mt. Gay Extra Old. It's about $55 a bottle in the states (35.2 UK pounds) but there it is dirt cheap.

One of the big attractions is supposed to be a flea market. Stay away from that. I also had some pretty iffy guys driving the taxis there.

I was struck by how you could have some people living in basically shacks just within sight of multi-million dollar homes and resorts.

Mt. Gay is the bomb. It is one of the best rums you can get. Going to the distillery would be cool.

Where and which area did you stay? Did you visit Brisgetown much? How would you describe it? Things to do etc?

We're thinking of staying here in a one bed oceanfront residence.

After checking the ol' scrapbook it turns out we stayed at the Savannah in St. Lawrence Gap in Christ Church.

We visited the Barbados Wildlife Preserve, The Flower Forrest, took a Harbour Master cruise for an evening, took a tour of a giant cave complex (a-maz-ing) and went snuba diving. Snuba is like scuba but instead of having the tank on your back it floats on the surface and an air hose goes down to your mask. Add that to the already mentioned tour of the rum distillery, the pool and river complex at the hotel the fact that pretty much everywhere we ate from the cheapest diners to a restaurant where 4 people hovered around our table and refilled you glass anytime you took a sip of water (The Restaurant at Southsea, Waterside Restaurant, Barbados - Restaurant Reviews - TripAdvisor ) and I can't think of a much nicer place to go for a week.

Very popular with Brits BTW. We met several people from London while we were there.
