That gulf stream has given us our coldest summer since 1993 and now this. It can kiss my ass as far as i'm concerned lol.

        Wow that sucks for you.
Maybe it will veer off before it gets to you.

Not direct hits like this. However thanks to the gulf stream we do get the tail end of a lot of your hurricanes that swing up by the east coast of the US and back out into the Atlantic. Similar to this one, except Katia has decided to turn back across the Atlantic a lot earlier than most hurricanes do.

Our usual severe weather is caused by European Windstorms. The last major one to hit the UK was Kyrill in 2007.

edit: @Sirex. Well then i'll have plenty of hamburgers.

                    Enjoy!

The remnants of Lee absolutely crushed us here. We made it through Irene with minor flooding in the area and lots of power outages. Lee produced the worst flooding of my lifetime in the DC region. I was out of work Thursday and Friday because it was literally impossible to reach my work location--every entrance to the county seat was flooded. There's at least a fair chance I won't be at work Monday. The flooding took out much of the ground floor of the county administration building, including its power and telecommunications center. My building is across the pond, and has unknown damage to date.

Heh, I just called my number at 10:09pm EST and am still getting a busy signal. Obviously the telecommunications are still out (we route through the CAB).

Keep us posted, here in the Southeast US we deal with Hurricanes often, and they are BRUTAL...

Good luck, and let us know how you fare.

We're actually quite used to flooding.

                        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_United_Kingdom_floods

During that Summer i was so glad that i live on relatively high ground and quite far away from any major rivers.

The floods were considered to be the most critical natural event in UK history. Surpassing the 1947 benchmark (which was freaking crazy scary sounding).

83" of snow. I'd love that lol.

You should move here. We had 115F 46C this summer with 100% humidity. The humidity made it feel like 126F 52C.
Of course you would hate our winters.
