That is definitely up for debate. Other games have had a far more steady player base the entire past decade, or far more of it that MW, so MW cant come close in my opinion. BF2, UT2k4, etc etcOriginally posted by Pumpkin_Jack View PostCOD:MW is 2000-2010 not 2010-2020 that is still in the air for a future battlefield game

You do let your single-player bias get in the way of things, don't you?Originally posted by juneau View PostBF2 wins best game of 2000-2010 for me. Second would be Unreal 2k4, and third COD4.

The best game of 2000-2010 was Deus Ex, and it's not even truly close. Half-Life 2 has to be in the conversation also. I would agree on 2k4 being in the mix, and while I personally love BF2 and BF 1942, BF2 isn't in the conversation.

With all due respect to both Barbie and J.C. Denton you guys are off comparing apples to watermelons again when we start mixing different game types. You can't even lump COD and BF in the same category because of the wildly different game experiences.
That being said I wouldn't be a fanboy if I didn't bring up NOLF, Fallout 3, Diablo 2 and Civ 4. I guess there was some elf game that WoW'ed a few people also.

The first 2 of these are on my best of the decade list, which incorporates both console and PC games. It's in the Movies... forum, from late December 2009. I thought about copying that list in here, but maybe I will if this thread hijack continues.Originally posted by JohnyRico View PostThat being said I wouldn't be a fanboy if I didn't bring up NOLF, Fallout 3, Diablo 2 and Civ 4. I just find that the SP experience never lives up to that of the MP, no matter how good the "story" is. I prefer to be actively posting on the forums and babble away on TS to the rest of you guys than sit in silence.Originally posted by Rand{CLR} View PostYou do let your single-player bias get in the way of things, don't you?

COD can KMA but here is an interesting read about games as a service.

Call of Duty Elite Beta Attracts 2 Million Sign-Ups
There's a large number of people looking to try out Elite's new features for themselves.

It's unclear how many people are going to be willing to pay for the subscription-based component of Call of Duty Elite, but there is no shortage of interest in the upcoming beta.
Activision's Dan Amrich reports that more than two million people have signed up for the beta in less than two weeks. (You can do so here.) Elite was formally announced at the end of May following many rumors that an online subscription service of some sort was coming. It initially sparked a backlash when it was misconstrued that users would have to pay for things like stat tracking and social networking that are free elsewhere. Those concerns have since been addressed with Activision making it clear what's provided for free.
It remains unclear how much the premium service will cost or all of the benefits it will provide. As of now, free access to downloadable content and a Call of Duty web series are among the perks we know of that Elite subscribers will be entitled to.
Elite is largely being designed around Modern Warfare 3. The beta, however, will be run using Black Ops. It's officially scheduled to begin on July 14 and primarily entails the use of a web client as opposed to something you'll download on the console of your choice.
I almost sign up for myself to try it out. But after watching a youtube clip and talking about it with my friends. I'll pass the beta.
