Do farts carry germs?

I was wondering, can flatulence spread bacteria or have bacteria contained with in? I always wondered this.

Because I was sitting on a friends sofa and I happened to be sitting on one of those throw pillows, and I farted on it. (you know how you sit around fartin' and laughin or raggin on each other)

Anyways, this particular instance, he got a bit irritated, because it was on his PILLOW...the place where he lies his head sometimes. He thought I contaminated it with germs

I laughed and said, "Farts dont' carry germs!" it's only air that stinks bad.

And he said, "Well, why do you think it stinks bad?? IT's because of the nasty germs contained within"

So it got me thinking, and I was wondering if anyone has any medical facts on this?

Thats what most people think but it's not true.
