Selling people stuff FOR them on Ebay

My mom kknows of an elderly couple who aren't computer literate at all, but wants to sell off their stuff...my mom recommend me to sell it for the )possibly) on ebay

I've looked into this before, I'm not sure if It'd be a pain in the arse or not but things to consider

    1. Charge a flat rate?
    2. Charge a percentage? (of course if they're selling a 1.00 item...that's not much
    3. Have to figure in the stupid ebay/paypal fees
    4. If it even sells at all, they're out money, but I made money?
    5. Don't use MY account to sell their stuff, open up an account FOR them specifically?

    Any suggestions?

I'm actually a little surprised E-Bay isn't blocked here at work.

Tony, people sell other people's stuff for them all the time on E-Bay. It's the new pawn shop.

First, don't expect to make lots of money selling on eBay. It's an auction. At the end of a good auction, the auctioneer makes money (that's eBay). Some things find a good price, other things don't. Considering the time & effort involved in listing items, people earning a good wage might show better profit by donating the items to charity for a tax deduction.

Second, if you don't want to get involved yourself, you could connect them with a "Trading Assistant". A T.A. might charge a simple fee of 25%-50% of the selling price. eBay Trading Assistant Program
"Trading Assistants are experienced eBay sellers in your area who will sell your items for you on eBay for a fee."

Third, warn your neighbors not to expect to make lots of money selling on eBay. Encourage them to give particularly valuable or cherished items to relatives or close friends. People sometimes get depressed seeing treasured collectibles sell for next to nothing.
