Well, last weekend I took the plunge and bought me a better scope for my Rem 700. It's a Nikon 5-20x44 Monarch III.
The Nikon rep. was at one of our local sports stores and I stopped by and told him what I was looking and I got it at a reasonable price. I could have matched it online, but after my $30 main in rebate it'll have cost about $495. Still a little too steep for my blood but very nice light gather. I believe it is just as good as a $1500 Leopold

...but I don't and my land is hilly/woody enough that I'd be lucky to find a 200 yard max shot (right from the backyard towards the lake, lol) anyway, so it'd be hard to justify this kind of ching.
