    another lawsuit for Intel

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8343179.stm

This one's in the US. Similar charges as in the European version.

    The case:

    'Systematic campaign'

Mr Cuomo said Intel - the world's largest maker of semiconductors - had been engaged in a "worldwide, systematic campaign of illegal conduct".

"Rather than compete fairly, Intel used bribery and coercion to maintain a stranglehold on the market," he added.

"Intel's actions not only unfairly restricted potential competitors, but also hurt average consumers who were robbed of better products and lower prices."

Mr Cuomo said the details of the case were revealed in email exchanges.

Intel is accused of paying millions of dollars each year - and "in some years billions" - in payoffs to computer makers in exchange for them only buying its chips.
Their response to the European suit:
The firm denied any wrongdoing in that case and is now appealing.
Their response to the US suit:
Intel said in a statement that the "decision to file suit against [us] is just plain wrong".
Uhm, yeah, I'm pretty sure it's all just some strange misunderstanding.

Kewl, so the Intel chip prices are going up and the AMD are going to rule again.

Lol, do you think they can go up any higher?

I wouldn't know. But I do believe that if these suits achieve their aim of leveling the playing fields and thus enhancing competition, it should be good for the consumers in a number of ways.

I will also say that this type of stuff makes me feel better about using AMD in all my builds to date, though I'm not dissing anyone for using Intels, as they have been putting out some more powerful products: I'm not trying to start a war, m'kay?

I understand completely. I have been using AMDs in my home builds for a long time now. I agree, I believe the duel and quad cores Intels perform better, but I believe I'm going to stick with the AMD since I can get a quad AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz for $195.99, but unfortunately some of the benchmarks I see compare it close to the Intel quad core i5-750 which is about $199.99.
I'll keep supporting AMD in the hopes they will make a major breakthru and increase the speed and drop the heat generated.

          +1

Yup, my 940 does what I need it to do...I'm very happy with it.
