Yeah, I'd have figured they would have tried to spin Pontiac off or sell it to someone.

I didn't think FIAT had enough capital to buy someone like GM.

the GTO has been dead for a long time. This abomination that they currently call the GTO deserves to die. I hate when car companies bring back classic car names, but completely butcher the car. Dodge did the same thing with the charger.

Yeah, but I think they got it right on the Challenger. I'd love to be able to afford that car.

Ford missed with the TBird but got it right with the Mustang. I am waiting for the 'Cuda.

GM is cutting Saturn, as well as Cadillac and Hummer. They're just spinning Saturn, Cadillac, and Hummer off as either their own companies or for some other company to buy. As I said, not sure why they didn't chose that route with Pontiac, woulda made more sense than killing it entirely, but who knows.

And Fiat is looking at partnering with Chrysler, not buying GM. From what I understand of the deal, it wouldn't be a buyout completely, but I don't have a ton of information on the subject.

I never did like the H2 let alone that sorry excuse for a Hummer the H3. But GM selling Cadillac??? I don't think GM would sell there High end division even though Cadillac models is not selling very well. In fact I think Cadillac did worst then the Pontiac lol. I know Cadillac is pulling out in some markets in Europe and cancel its plans to heading to Australia.

Happens. The only distinguishing trait for Pontiacs over the last few decades was their ugly grill...I couldn't tell the models apart.

Of the current pontiacs the only one I'll be sad to see go is the G8 which is really a rebadged Holden from austrailia. It is sad that GM couldn't keep their act together and keep Pontiac vibrant. They really lost their way sometime ago and were never really able to define Pontaic clearly. For the most part Pontiacs have been gussied up'ed chevy's, and freaking ugly to boot. The G8 was at least a step in the right direction to make "the american bmw" but alas it was 10-15 years too late. The people I feel sorry for are the workers who have laboured to build these cars, while the decision makers who put this company in the toilet sit back and wait for the dust to settle.
