British nuke base uncovered by Google Earth

Google Earth uncovers secret UK nuke base - is technology out of hand? - TECH.BLORGE.com

Given, the Brits are ticked because they asked Google to blur certain parts of the images containing "sensitive" data, which was done in the past but slipped through on recent updates. The actual location apparently isn't much of a secret. Honestly though, the argument that allowing public access to satellite maps is going to greatly help terrorism doesn't fly very far with me. It might help some loony, but if they're already to the point to organizing to blow something up, and want to make a statement, I don't think that this will provide that much extra help to them.

Almost every military base is on Google Earth, jets on runways the works. It's the stuff that you can't see you worry about. As for the SAS training facilities, if you know the Brecon Beacons in Wales you never know which bush is watching you and if they are on selection you can make a lot of money for a handful of choccie bars...so I believe.

That one isn't nearly as bad as the link on its page to the google image of what looks like either a Virginia Class or the Seawolf with its propeller exposed.

The Soviets, Chinese and other major enemies know where the bases are. What they may not know is the beyond top secret design of that propeller, until now.

And if a terrorist can put a nuke on a ballistic missile and use coordinates to get it to the right place, we've got many more things to worry about than accidently removing the "fog of war."
