    Any reptile owners here.

My son has a couple of green anoles and we put up the special light that we bought on line. It has made them much happier then they had been with the standard heat lamp. The problem is it dries out the cage too much. What can be done to keep the moisture level high instead of using a spray bottle?

    Here is a pic.

My brother had (my mom has now) a leopard gecko who has a heat lamp and a heat rock. She's a desert lizard though so I don't know if moisture level is such a big deal. She also has a fairly large water dish that gets filled to the top every evening though too.

I found a couple of things on green anoles.

      and

It looks like most of the links say a misting of water twice daily is recommended, as apparently they prefer drinking water from droplets to drinking standing water...so I would keep that up. I don't have many other ideas or knowledge of pet-specific devices.

One thought...a friend from the past was into orchids...and with their often high requirements for humidity, their pots would have to be kept over a dish with water and stones in it...the evaporation would help with the humidity level. Maybe you could set something like that up in the cage. That, along with the daily misting, and possibly cutting down the opening on top to prevent water loss (as one of these sights recommends), might help.

Hope this was of some help.

Thanks for the linkage. I just went to Pet Smart and picked up a few crickets and some plastic plants to provide shade so the bedding will retain the water longer. Hopefully this will hep keep them moist.

Set up a tank of water and a pump- then use garden misters to mist the cage at different times.

Kinda like the Grocery Store and their timed Produce misters.

My friend had (no longer) this set up in his house and the tank of water was under the table that the reptile cage was on.

It was funny, because his lizards started to develop a sense of time and they would flock to the top of the cage when the timer was set to mist.

It was custom by the way.
