Bad news. Im getting conflicting info about running a community server.

No-they’re locked to EA’s servers only, no renting or self-hosting allowed. DICE made it clear in their patch notes; communities are stuck using the in-game portal to filter EA-hosted ones. If you’re thinking clan lobbies, you’ll get private matches, but they’re temporary, not persistent like dedicated servers were. Bit of a bummer, yeah?

Yes, players can run their own custom persistent servers with custom rules in Battlefield 6 through the Battlefield Portal, allowing for the selection of maps, modes, and specific rulesets. EA had that originally and killed private community servers off. Now they want to bring them back. How many years did it take them to figure out that players like community servers?

Many years!! From what I can tell they are obsessed with people putting up private servers to inflate their XP points. Just my opinion.

Sirex and I will soon be on the case, I need to buy the game first!

For those looking forward to Battlefield 6, and it seems there are a lot of you who do, you’ll be very glad to know that you’ll soon be able to preload the game, as Electronic Arts has changed it to be much sooner.

While Battlefield 6 won’t be released until October 10, console and PC players will be able to preload it literally a week before release, thanks to EA’s change.

This date change has been applied to both the PC and console versions (PS5, Xbox Series X|S).
