    Spreadsheet help

Long story short, Quicken has pissed me off for the last time, the new version that I was forced to upgrade to is so fricken complicated that it's harder to track the few tings I want to.

I am trying to make a spreadsheet to track different accounts. I want to be able to input several items from a statement in one place and have it show up on several sheets. Lets say I had a Visa statement, I would like to be able to put the balance, interest, payment and purchases in one spot and track each of these on separate sheets. I have found several templates out there but none of them are exactly what I'm looking for. Could anyone point me to some kind of online tutorial or something that would help me achieve this goal using Open Office Calc.

Hey Duke I use excel far more than I would like to admit. I can probably piece something together for you. Let me make sure I fully understand what you want.

So in the pic attached. As an example: you want to pull values from box A1 on sheet one and have the value(s) appear on a box on sheet three, correct?

Waiting in queue on Cains so i can give a quick example.

You're going to want to use the built in functions of openoffice / excel. To access those, use the = symbol as the first thing you type.

So using the example above, lets say i want to pull the data that is in cells A1 and A2 on sheet one, add them together, and have the display show on cell A1 on sheet 3.
        (using open office syntax here)
Click on cell A1 on sheet 3, type =(Sheet1.A1+Sheet1.B1)
        then hit enter.

If you just want to copy the value from one cell on a sheet type
        =(Sheet1.A1)

Thanks a bunch Bacon. I read a lot about spread sheets today and I realized that they can get quite complicated. After reading you example of being able to address a certain sheet I'm feeling better about the whole thing. I would have the first sheet be the input area where I could take a statement and put in the values I need then work the separate values on a different sheets.

This gives me more to read up on, stay tuned.
