CoD:WAW from Steam No longer Works

I have recently built a new rig and I am reloading my software on the new hard disk drive. I installed Steam and downloaded CoD:WAW. The download went just fine but the game will not execute. I get a generic Windows message saying it will not work.

Do I need to activate this steam purchased game again? If so, how do I do this?

I believe you Select Games > Activate a product on Steam... and then follow the instructions to enter the product key again.

I bought the game and downloaded it on Steam. Where is the product key normally stored?

I think activate is for a the purchase of the game in a retail store. For example if you bought CSS at Walmart you would need to activate it through Steam. If you buy the game through Steam you do not need to activate it. It is automatically linked to your Steam Account.

hmmmm .... ok I have downloaded it twice with the same crash result ... so now I have a support ticket in with Steam.

Ok ... I fixed this .... duuuhhh .... I did not have the latest DirectX 9.0c patch installed.

All is well now.
